    Calgary | Block 23 - Central Park | 12m | 3s | Gibbs Gage

i am thinking if you don't need it on the first floor then the second don't require it either as you can still transfer that load to the shear walls as similar to L1- which is why i found it odd

i dunno if that is thick enough for the huge cantilever :) - I see what they did now - they used a "truss" system i can see steel beams

    Calgary | Block 23 - Central Park | 12m | 3s | Gibbs Gage

interesting design to see the X braces on the upper floor but not continuous to the floor below

two ends with the huge cantilevers - i wonder how they made it work without thick transfer slab at the lowest level- didn't drive by this often when it was being built-dang

    Calgary | TELUS Sky | 222.19m | 60s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

honestly TS is sick looking especially when it was in construction and could see the walking columns. If I would change one thing about TS is that it doesn't get so small so aggressively at the top, it looks too bottom heavy and top is a bit thin. thats all

Vancouver House seems like its turning more heads to me its an upside down version of Telus Sky

    Infill Development Discussion

so you can get 8-10% on the 2million with 200k invested, so the roi is 80%-100%? i can see why people do it now. I find that ROI high tho

thats it? you can make more in tfsa, and you would likely make that on a slow year in stocks.

    Calgary | West Village Towers | 149.95m | 42s | Cidex Group | NORR Dubai Yahya Jan

i like everything about it - I can't wait for it to be done so I can walk around it- I hope they can get Tower C up and running too so its a complete building instead of a portion of it cut off.

    Infill Development Discussion

are infills like side by side duplex say three storeys 1800sqft each side still profitable in the city?

    Calgary | Courtyard 33 | 21.64m | 6s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

if its code reasons then 6 storey wood frame wouldn't work. I doubt its code reasons only

    Calgary | Hat @ 14th Street | 94.48m | 28s | Cidex Group | NORR

    Calgary | Courtyard 33 | 21.64m | 6s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

i wonder why they didn't just do 6 storey out of wood, the concrete up to the second floor looks quite unique with all the steps and drop panels, the slab soffit also slopes in some areas, I wonder why they did that? hmm..
