    Exhibition Place

Wrong time of the year. You have the Royal as a celebration of Agriculture. If anything, you could work on more of a farming experience as a permanent exhibition in some of the accessible urban parks that were farms. I.e Brontë PP to the west and Rouge to the east. Or the Country Heritage Site...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Personally I am waiting on a Case or MF to adapt an SSB power unit in an affordable (???) mid size farm tractor. Maybe about the same time as they appear in locomotives. Here is a good article from a farming perspective of non ICE power units...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Re the above conversations re electrical, battery, ICE locomotives. So possibly the ML ‘strategy’ of prolonging the decision making ( which is really a historical standard Canadian political practice) as long as possible, with all the attendant studies, consultations, commissions, policy...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

I agree. And as much as we love the area, would love to see more investment in services and attractions that would attract more ‘ traffic’ and support further infrastructure improvements, it is not all on the goverment (read the taxpayer) to supply funding and initiatives beyond what they do at...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

For anyone reading the Globe and Mail and not caught up in the article about the Arkell, there is an interesting opinion piece re alternatives to Alto, both build solutions and trains. This by Jason Shron. Jason Shron is president of the VIA Historical Association and author of TurboTrain: A...

    Oakville Toronto | The Deane | 18.15m | 4s | Rise | GMB

Did it just go up. There is a crane downtown that occupies a prominent position. Around the corner from Knox.

    Oakville Toronto | Distrikt Station | 184.8m | 58s | Distrikt Group | BDP Quadrangle

I think the population of Oakville had perfectly legitimate questions and concerns about what was being proposed. However, as this really does not seem to change the numbers, excluding tower heights, it will be very interesting to see how they are proposing to accomplish this. And does this...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I would think that ML would have longer term contracts re fuel and maybe hedge on prices, but nevertheless you are not wrong. And perhaps an incentive as well?

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

This country is so timid. And our popular press reflects those feelings over all else. Its the suppressed NDP genes in our political DNA I beleive.

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

You are thinking Baron Haussmann and Napoleon III re Paris between 1850'ish and 1870? And yes NIMBYS existed 160 or so years ago - lots of them. The thought of a Haussmann redo on portions of single family Toronto is tantalizing in the extreme - even if not the scope and scale of the Paris...

    Prefabricated and modular buildings

I agree. The underlying services are also key - hydro, water, sewage - and often a challenge in the remote settlements. Even the settlements with road access as conditions can be challenging. Constructions seems to be modular, but winter road access is a must, unless you have access to a...

    Prefabricated and modular buildings

From my travels in Northern Ontario / Northern Manitoba, had a chance to view a couple of units and was impressed. https://bisonmodular.ca/

    Oakville Toronto | 157 Cross Avenue | 203.5m | 61s | Distrikt Group | Teeple Architects

We perhaps need an Oakville Midtown thread, but in the meantime, some news from Oakville Council, but really no news, as Council will not talk about there decision making in public. See the following: ‘Really momentous’: What did Oakville council approve following secret discussion on...

    Burlington Toronto | Bronte Creek Meadows | ?m | ?s | Alinea

It would have been nicer to see a higher % of medium density. However the amount of green space retained is a positive surprise.

    Mississauga Toronto | Clarkson TOC | 147.75m | 45s | Infrastructure ON | Zeidler

This plan is as bad as that proposed for Oakville. The idea of intensification - yes. The idea of transforming surface parking - yes. The idea of naturalizing a creek, 50 and 60 years after they first started channelizing - yes. But the current plan - Nope.

    Snow removal comparison

HWY's 11 & 17 in certain areas of the province hold a unique category as The Trans Canada Highway, and along with the railways, the logistics connections between east and west. However they are not a 400 series highway in the same context as the QEW or the 401. And regardless of...

    Billy Bishop Airport Expansion?

I am not so sure about your claim re convenience. I use BB every time I can, take the GO into Union, the shuttle, through clearance in a zip, and away. A much nicer experience then Pearson. Add a little larger plane with a tad more range and I think use of the airport rises
