Assuming the strange "wall scraping" has finished, construction noise has not been too bad over the past few days.

^Just as a heads up-- the 311 people mentioned that construction noise is allowed until 10pm as part of the provincial guidelines. Perhaps someone will let me know otherwise, but a 311 didn't help me last night....

An excavator has been scraping the outside of the claw attachment against concrete walls in the dug-under corner of the lot for the past few days. As you can imagine, it's making a very loud, unpleasant noise. The thing is that, with each scrape, only a small amount of ground dust is falling...

PRAISE THE LORD THE SHORING MACHINE APPEARS TO BE LEAVING. (just a little excited) :)

The ground is shaking *a lot* today. It seems like one of the excavators has begun jackhammering again.

Thanks to @The Preservationist for the detailed explanation. They are starting to dig on the southeast corner (and are now down about 5 feet from street level). One small point: shoring has been going on since at least August 20th (see earlier pictures on this thread). So we're approaching 2...

Almost all of the current noise (very loud rhythmic clanking) from construction comes from the shoring machines... shaking accumulated dirt off of the corkscrew bit that drills the concrete shoring piles. The actual work of drilling is very quiet. Perhaps there is a quieter way to complete this...

Shoring tower has arrived. At least for now, though, there seems to be some planning going on prior to resuming work. The silence, if only temporary, has been a nice change.

Does anyone know what the next two-three months look like for this construction project? Now that the buildings are torn down, it's hard to get a visual sense of what the construction crew is working towards.

As of today, July 13, 2020 at roughly 3:30pm, the demolition of the two buildings has finished. Neither building is left standing. Probably will be a few days to clear all of the rubble.

Demolition of the second building began today. High reach arms are taking down the top floors right now.

Does anyone know if there is usually a delay between demolition and construction for these types of buildings? Perhaps for applying for permits, moving stuff, etc.? We are quarantining and would love to have a little break from all the noise.

Seems like demolition of the second building is getting underway in earnest today. They've brought in high reach arms to get to the top of the next one.
