Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Oh boy. New legislation coming soon. This has impacts on 2026 network expansion and there is concern at city. I guess the municipal election results mean nothing to the UCP. Devin Dreeshen: "It’s frustrating the message isn’t sinking in at city halls in Calgary and Edmonton. Other provinces...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

I don't think too much dt hotel space has been added in the past 25 years despite the city growing from 640,000 in 2000 to nearly double that now. Lots of growth in accommodation in other areas though along outer edges.

    Blatchford

Versus when Blatchford started with its first townhomes - does the architecture style/quality/visual appeal overall seem to be on a downward trend? I liked Encore a lot - but not sure if the current builds hold up to previous builds. Is it about desire to keep it more affordable?

    Edmonton | Winspear Centre Completion Project | 29.87m | 4s | Winspear Centre | Andrew Bromberg

Walking by a couple days ago, in the evening when it's easier to see inside when lights are on, it doesn't appear much has been done on the northside in terms of finishing work.

ETS Bus and General Transit Improvements

Principe and Elliott proposed to cancel funding for bike racks. Other new councillors - Morgan, Clarke, Parmar voted against that proposal along with rest of council.

    Edmonton's Population

Is it a matter that Strathcona County is out of developable land until Bremner gets going? Numbers are so low there so not sure what explanation is.

    Blatchford

Council voiced several concerns with the ongoing financial shortfall and cash infusion required for the Blatchford utility on an annual basis. The city has no option though (at least none were presented) to keep funding the expected ongoing shortfall for years to come. I don't full understand...

    Blatchford

In a Blatchford update to council, it was reported that 150 homes were built or under construction during the past year (400 overall since construcruon began). The 90 rentals at Pilot account for most of the past year's total. Along with the 1 apartment under construction now, another 5 are...

    High Level Bridge

I believe this was an idea in the 40s? Some other images Before the new barriers I still hope for this project. Not only would it enhance livability, the city needs more cool amenities and this highlights and builds off our greatest assets. We are not a natural tourist destination so...

    Stollery Children's Hospital

I had to look back on a post I made on the Stollery in March (in Alberta Government politics thread). A colleague I worked with at the time came from a high level position in administration at the Stollery. She said with certainty that the hospital won't be in operation for at least 10 years...

The project manager, Natalie Lazurko, said the ERRS could reach out to her for a meeting if they would like to discuss the project. NatalieLazurko@edmonton.ca

    High Level Bridge

So your first question was asked and there would be virtually no difference in cost to do the required bridge rehab even if HLB is converted to active transportation only (and the streetcar). The stress and repairs on the bridge (built in 1913) are result of its structure and design - the same...
