GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I think it'd be a hard sell to move or change the intermediate stop away from Bloor GO - Dundas West TTC as that intersection with the subway is super handy for many.

    Cozy Cafes

Love this thread idea! I am also always on the look out for a good cozy café. An oldie but goodie for me is Tango Palace on Queen East. No fireplace, but checks the rest of your boxes, I think. Or The Coffee Bar (Turkish & Irish coffees) at 174 Eglinton Ave E has a fireplace. Despite it...

This angle is going to make for such an awesome photo when it's finished!😍

Not rude, it was a funny way to tell me not to ask. I was worried by the other angry reaction. It's all good now and I learned something new.

I am sorry if I have broken an unwritten rule. I'm still relatively new to this space. I've seen other people ask for updates on other projects so didn't think it was wrong to ask, but given how someone gave me an angry face I guess I've screwed up. 🙇

This thread's been quiet for a long time. Does anyone know what happened to this project?

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

Yes, like S&L, but perhaps with more books/magazines, a music angle, or other tweaks. A few "listening lounges" have opened up in TO (e.g. 915 Dupont), and old-timey themed bars (i.e. Apothecary), so perhaps some kind of combo incorporating those elements could work. My husband & I used to go to...

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

Yeah, I had originally assumed Hard Rock would take over the former Milestones space, but the comments here seemed to say something else. I wish the Winners would be divvied up with the outside facing sides made into a coffee shop. After reading a lot of "Vintage Toronto" articles, I came to...

I know it's been confirmed that Shake Shack is going in at ground level on the corner, but is it actually confirmed that Hard Rock Cafe will replace the Winners?

    VIA Rail

Oddly enough, there was a core group of commuters between KW/Guelph & Toronto back in the day before the GO was extended. Perhaps demand drove supply then. I agree with your idea to have more TODs. HSR would help too by making commuting possible from even further away, or at least make it easier...

It'd be kinda nice if there were some spots to watch people/traffic from the 2nd floor that were affordable though.

Yes, but I'll add that I'd prefer it were a two-level or 2nd floor coffee shop overlooking the street at the corner.

Forgot about them! But even "Scotia" is obfuscating their old name, "Bank of Nova Scotia" a bit. I wonder if some people think it originated in Scotland? 🤔

Yes, and if we consider beyond downtown, the old Yorkdale location appears to be completely empty right now.

Yes, it was fun shocking my friend from New Jersey with that fact. All the banks moved to using their initials as their official branding around 2000 which I heard was to open up the possibility of becoming more international.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Place | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON

My main complaint with the move is that we could have had something new at OP & kept the OSC where it was (with some necessary repairs & renovations, of course). I advocated for no new building in the parking lot, and for the pods to be rotating exhibits curated by various museums around Ontario...

Agreed! One update - the parking is now moving over to the Exhibition grounds, so even that big drawback has been removed.
