    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Sadly having dealt with this sort of stuff in person, there are so many different ways they can get in. Ironically very old equipment is almost less of a risk according to the consultants I dealt with.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Not about Toronto but an interesting article, 660 assaults but 30,000 calls to special constables. I wonder what our number is like? Afaik we have 8 people on at a time and they patrol in pairs https://montreal.citynews.ca/2024/06/28/crime-doubled-montreal-metro-report/

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I sat for ~15 mins at bloor and old mill. Despite seeing hundreds of cars on a peak cycling day I saw a total of 3 bikes. I'm considering setting up a camera during rush hour to see totals for a given day

It's idiotic the government stepped in last min!

Multiple times I've brought this up and this issue has been hand waved away "but there's so many people who don't get attacked every day!"

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Even before covid at least 1 operator was assaulted daily, someone was killed this week at Jane, these incidents aren't isolated. Additionally my biggest gripe is most of the time these aren't "normal people" who had a moment of insanity. These are repeat offenders, out on bail weeks or days...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Oh damn, another repeat offender attacking total strangers with a sword on the ttc and had a “ failure to comply with a release order.” I wonder how many times a day this has to happen before we admit it’s a problem...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I agree, but you'd need to build demand before they justified it

How much of this is due to the $10 pass?

Decided to bike around humber bay. Saw "1 dock left" which means 0 on 2 of the stations. It was so bad there were multiple bikes left on the street. Wonder how much those users will end up being charged. There were additional bikes out of frame but didn't want to take flash photos of strangers...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

At the risk of derailing the thread, I don’t really see it. All the people I know in Doug Ford age bracket said it hasn’t changed in 30 years so might as well tear it down. (totally forgetting continual investment is important??) Billions of dollars of land were bought up before the green belt...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Even with the current speeds, if they could up frequency I'd take the slower line every time! It's 1000x a better experience than switching trains and likely taking a bus and probably standing nearly the whole trip

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Yeah I was in one of the "worst" Neighbourhoods in Japan Nishinari, barred windows everywhere etc. The worst behaviour I saw was a ticketed and ilegally parked car. Japan is insane, no talking on the trains, all the airbnb's I stayed at were silent even though the walls were so thin I could hear...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Any way to project how long it'll take to get between x and y stops? I think they posted a full line speed prediction but that's not helpful for partial trips

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

For safety's sake I'd always just use the proper exit. As a driver or pedestrian #1 is to be predictable, so avoid places they don't expect people.
