They own the land, it'll revitalize that part of downtown, it's near the conference centre, and no other tower would have as good of a view.

That's true. This is a hotel development. I had a place in the Shangri-la in Toronto up until 2019. The condo fee was quite high, and it was increasing at a rapid pace, which led me to sell it. My rental just didn't make sense anymore.

Agreed that parking is a huge issue. But it is a symptom of our car culture here. Hopefully the new LRT lines will help people go a car free.
