The champagne color metal complements both the church and the Tartu College tower. Overall it's looking good I think, the true result will be more obvious later on.

The Hamilton House Hotel (Later the Regal Hotel). Built c.1850, It was a real Italianate gem with a lot of ornate detailing lost over time, and covered up with the worst stucco (?) I've ever seen. You can see the North wing was once longer and had storefronts. I really hope the facades will be...

And the facade on Front St. Not architecturally significant, but worth keeping. I used to go to the Rehearsal Factory there, will be a completely different vibe.

Architects could specify shades with a dark grey or black facing the glass to hide that effect.

Unless they plan to do some more metalwork after already adding the new paint, it seemed pretty finished.

Walked past and they left some rust holes unpatched in the repainted bridge steelwork. Disappointing.

It's always amusing to see those quaint stone houses surrounded by very geometric tower blocks.

It's not industrial siding. It's a custom serrated profile, not the PBR panels used on industrial buildings. These people don't know what they're talking about.

The Louvre, like all classical architecture, has a clear hierarchy in design language from base to roof, and it has only one mullion design. It's not all over the place like this one.

Good that they kept the mullions of the original design, it seemed like they were just going to put plain picture windows based on what looked like a test piece from a few pages back: The mullions help to break up the squareness of the windows.

These are called clinker bricks, once an accidental by-product of brickmaking but later used as an architectural statement.

The facade design looks pretty good. I don't really see an issue with shallow retail units, if they are done right they can have a boutique feel.
