My god that's one shell of a building! 😲

It's apparently based off of the information provided in that Toronto Star article(according to the citation). The Toronto Star is not exactly some random joe blow. Edit* After somehow bypassing the paywall and reading the article myself, the floor count figure The Star quotes(85) doesn't...

Don't look up I'd say! Having people standing underneth it really goes to show just how massive that transfer slab is. I think the only other building in the city that made use of one that had the height of an entire floor before was Sugar Wharf, but I feel like the floor heights are a bit...

I preffered the massing of the previous iteration.

What, no love at all for the 'ol Garagemahal? One can at least say; it's the monument the GTA deserves, if not the one it needs. 😏

But I love that whacky upper level... 🥺 Always thought it was the coolest thing (train design) ever, ever since I first saw it in Source code Some interesting sentiments about it; https://chicagoreader.com/best-of-chicago/the-low-pleasures-of-the-metra-trains-top-floor/

Maybe it was rear wheel driven and she engaged the 'NOS' right before the jump? 🤷‍♂️

    VIA Rail

Its due to the rest rule changes being implemented by TC later this year; Rest periods have been extended to a minimum 12 hours at home, and ten hours away from home from the previous eight hours at home, or six hours when away from home. VIA's response was to change most schedule cycles from a...

Just found out about this building in Dubai (going by the groundbreaking name "City Tower" 😒) that more or less ripped-off HP's podium design, minus the curvy glass; https://www.skyscrapercity.com/posts/187272100/ Suppose it does at least give an idea of what this tower would've looked like...

    General railway discussions

Absolutely, but it certainly doesn't help that the employees working the large yards at CP and CN are usually the most junior. Often you'll have two conductors working together who've only been on the job for a few months and this after being rushed through training. When you reduce crew sizes...

    General railway discussions

Correction; a crew member, not necessarily an engineer. Yard crews in the big freight yards don't normally have an engineer, they're typically manned by two conductors controlling the loco remotely using belt packs like this (The red flashing light on the underside of a loco indicates it's a...

OK guys... Who's drone is that and why haven't you posted your photos yet?? 😒

What's with the extra high central core? Usually the exterior columns would rise up higher as well, unless they're switching to steel for them.

The design may have been dumbed down but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far, the geometry is still more interesting than 95% of the condos going up in this city.

Ho.Lee.Sheet. Feels I've been waiting my whole damn life to see buildings like this get built in Toronto. Yeah still a lot that can go wrong between now and completion, but sometimes miracles do happen(The One). At least the vision is there.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Where exactly were you stopped? The Milton line is a single-direction service; there is no point where a train on that line would have to wait for other GO trains except when it gets too close to Union. As for why it would have to stop before entering Union Station, there are several reasons...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Indeed. Unsurprising, for anyone that's ever been to West Harbour you'd know that there's so much space beyond just the immediate platform, in contrast to most other GO stations.

    Toronto Toronto | 19 Bloor West | 317.4m | 99s | Reserve Properties | Arcadis

The buildings contrast too much, in a bad way and they're too simular in height. If it were shorter it could have created a nice step down appearance but together at that height they make for a jarring pair of dissimilar twin towers.
