Thanks Mods for organizing these threads for me, you make me look like I know what I'm doing! I'm pretty psyched about Allied's plans, they seem to have their act together. They have a good track record of converting old brick-and-beam buildings to office use, and are now moving into...

Here's a tidbit from Allied's quarterly press release: "In the second quarter, Allied leased 544 King Street West in Toronto to The Hive for a term of five years commencing December 1, 2010. The Hive is a marketing firm that currently operates from 425-439 King Street West. It will move to...

There's now a website up for this development: http://www.qrcwest.com/index.htm It has bunch of info including stacking plans, floor plans, and new images. Here's a few of the images:

Based on the images shown in the planning document, it doesn't seem to me that the view corridor impact is that big of a deal. Here's the image that showed the most significant view impact:

Allied REIT has purchased the property to the north of 134 Peter, at Queen and Peter, and plans to incorporate it into the redevelopment. They are now calling the development "Queen Richmond Centre West". From the press release announcing the purchase: "With 89 feet of frontage on Queen...

    Toronto Toronto | Union Centre | 298m | 54s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

Allied REIT (owner of 134 Peter and 544 King West) has just purchased 151 Front. Sounds like they are in no hurry to proceed with re-development plans. From the press release: "The property includes surplus land on which 750,000 square feet can be developed for specialized and general office...

Looks great overall, I like the darker colour on the inset corners. Based on the render, it looks like the white surface extends a bit past the edge, and into the inset corner to form a sort of "lip". I wonder if this is accurate, or just a fanciful exaggeration in the render. I've made a...

    Toronto Toronto | Residences at the RCMI Condos | 134.72m | 42s | Tribute | Zeidler

This quote from the planning staff doesn't make any sense, obviously if people are willing to buy units in a building with no parking, it will be very "likely" that the building will be filled with car-free households. Great! I hope that the silly parking requirements get undermined. I...

Head of Slips (Waterfront Toronto, West 8/DTAH)

Hmmm... Looking at the "Ontario Safety League" website, it looks like they are focused exclusively on road safety. The first sentence of their mission statement: "The Ontario Safety League's mission is to reduce preventable deaths, injuries and destruction on Ontario's roads through public...

    Toronto Toronto | 2 St Thomas | 80.46m | 26s | KingSett Capital | Hariri Pontarini

That's annoying, I wish they hadn't destroyed the southern "University Apartments" before canceling the project. Personally, I think it would have been better to keep the two University Apartments buildings intact, and transfer the density to a taller tower on the rest of the site. Hope...

Yeah, I think "white roof" generally makes a lot more sense than "green roof". I'd like to see more of a push for "white roof", as I think it's a more effective way of reducing the urban heat island effect, and is more economical and practical.

Regency Yorkville (Plazacorp/HiRise, 18s, Turner Fleischer) COMPLETE

Regency looks decent overall, but those concrete urns by the entrance look horrible. It seems odd to me that after spending lots of money on nice stone cladding and sidewalk, that the would haphazardly place two cheap-looking urns by the entrance. At least line them up so they don't look...
