at least 1/4 of that 1.3 billion figure is probably getting to Eau Claire like the tunnel would have for a better comparison of the two options, not ending at 7th ave like the UCP is proposing now.

I think there is way to much importance being put in the Federal funding expiring in March. yes, the current funding and the fund that it came from ends. But if we need to we could wait and reapply for a new funding agreement to get the LRT line correct. It may delay things another year. But...

I'm assuming to try and save face, they'll start building from 4th street south in the spring of next year, while they work on detailed design for the downtown portion. But generally agree, sounds like the city is pretty annoyed given that what the province has announced has zero details other...

I wouldn't be surprised if we stayed in a wild card spot most of the season. The team has shown they can play well, but also play like shit so it's hard to guess which way they will end up.

    Calgary | Gallery First & Tenth | 60m | 19s | Truman

Truman still has an estimated completion date of about 3 years from now. The building is supposedly fully sold out, so I'd expect construction to start no later than the spring.

Worth noting it sounds like their hopeful timeline is about 8 years from now for a new stadium to be ready as that's the life of the new turf they're installing.

I'm doubtful we will see it get developed. The city's current plan is to make it more of a park for events to be integrated more with the pathway system as part of the RiverWalk West project.

Depends what we call affordable. I doubt we could get a 30,000 seat stadium for less then $200 million. If we spend that much or more it needs to get used for more then just the Stamperders CFL games. Tim hortons field is pretty basic, and cost $150 million to build ten years ago.

    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

I use Google Maps to look for businesses like if I want to find a coffee shop nearby in an area I don't know as well, etc. But for most directions when driving, I find Apple Maps to give better verbal directions, information on which light to turn at, which lane to be in, etc. I also like that...

    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

Ontario has the "Onroute" stops every 70-100km along the major highways (Between Windsor, Montreal, and a couple on the 400 north). Typically there is one on both sides of the highway so that they don't need to build a major intersection, just a simple merge lane. It would be great to have a...

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

The Ottawa Confederation Line is an example of trying to get transit at the lowest cost and something we should avoid. As far as I remember OLRT's proposal originally failed the technical review, but Ottawa selected it regardless because it came in much cheaper than the other proposals. Look how...

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I Don't get how Smith/Dresden can keep saying they didn't want to waste taxpayer money on the current greenline. But at the same time cancel a project in which over a billion dollars (up to 2 billion now with cancellation costs) will go to waste, how is that not way more wasteful of taxpayer...

While I generally agree. It sounds like most of the new funding is coming from the Federal Government, so sorta free money for the city to pump into the program. Looks like they want some more non residential conversions as while (Post-secondary, hotels)

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

She wants the full 40km green line for less than 5 billion. But that was clearly never possible unless it was built over ten years ago. Also, I see the UCP is saying that if the city tries to make the UCP take over the project they will kill it. They want the city to continue to run the...

This is a good point, I think vacancy in rental units downtown in 2021 was closer to 5-8% and it's like <2% now. Thats not an insignificant jump in population either.
