    Best Cities Ranking

To be fair, this is partly driven by their participation rate which is around 72%, compared to 68% in Edmonton, and generally lower else where in Canada

    Downtown

It feels like when I talk to people from Toronto, especially any one in a more competitive environment (ex banking), they are back in the office 4-5 times per week. I wonder if our government heavy work force will tend to be less

    Edmonton | Manulife Place Renovations | 145.99m | 36s | AIMCo | MdeAS

Yeah so to your point, if national is paying its PE to acquire, then CWBs earnings are not going to be accretive on their own. So you need to find synergies. Anything that is repetitive like I mentioned in my first point, will be eliminated almost immediately I am sure. In a world where your...

This is not going to end well. National paid top dollar for CWB and will need to realize synergies asap. All duplicated corporate type positions will likely be eliminated (think treasury, accounting, etc). I can see a lot of people being packaged out. I think the jobs will bleed over time until...

I actually agree with this. But as an example, they just cut parts of 153 ave. Super inconsistent.. some spots they rode over all the grass. Other spots they cut one strip and left the rest. Other spots they left a long strip in the middle, and there are not even beds they are trying to avoid...

    Municipal Politics

This is essentially what I was going to say. But if you want a couple quick examples, 153 ave between 82 and 66, all the trees look dead or at the very least seem to have something very wrong with them, when compared to the ones down the road between 66 and 50. The center patches of grass on 153...

They have been dead or over grown by weeds for many years now. Can you explain this to me since I didn’t take gardening 101?

Do you think that would help though? They looked tampered with in about 20 different ways. I wonder if people without an arc card would just start booting the doors resulting in cracked glass and other damage

    Municipal Politics

Yes thanks tips, my point is there was obviously money allocated to that at some point in time, in addition to grass actually getting cut in a timely manner in addition to some one with a weed whacker actually trimming around bus shelters, trees, lights. Also, there used to be a horticulture...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I took the valley line from downtown to Millwoods for the first time yesterday. A few observations: - about 5 young men hanging out in one of the shelters who then proceeding to stand on the tracks tempting the train driver, who had to hit his horn for them to move. - activated my arc card for...

Even more salt in the wounds when you drive the street and see grass that has yet to be cut this year, along with weeds that no longer get sprayed. More money for less service!

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

You can give these people a home and they wouldn’t even know what to do with it. They would destroy it. Not to mention, housing in Edmonton is affordable. Two people making minimum wage can rent a low end apartment together for $1100-$1200 per month, so $600 each. Working minimum wage, you would...

    LRT Safety

Some fair points here. But I’d also say, I personally didn’t notice any less bull shit going on in and around the LRT, even when they had encampments. Also, to some extent, you do get what your tolerate. And right now, we tolerate everything.. when you set the bar so low, well, this is what we...

Yes we know they will end up else where, but at this point, almost anywhere else is more tolerable than our public transit

And I repeat, military guy with rifle… move it along crack heads

    Downtown Real Estate

Yeah this is a tricky issue. I’d rather just see some sort of plaque or something in the community that speaks honestly to both the good things the person did and also the bad things. Can’t change history but I think it would be more helpful to just lay the facts out both good and bad

    Downtown Real Estate

Important point here. Real GDP per capita has not moved in ~10 years. In recent years, real GDP per capita in the US has left Canada in the dust. And places like Australia, where GDP per capita was below Canada a decade ago, has now surpassed Canada.
  18. E

    LRT Safety

All fair questions. But yeah the intention would just be to provide structure to people who are lacking it. Freedom is fantastic but unfortunately not everyone can handle full freedom. I think some people would do better with some guidance in their lives. But yeah, all those sorts of questions...

    LRT Safety

a bit of tangent but another thing this country could use is a two year mandatory service to your country. Not necessarily military but humanitary service where you help out during natural disasters for example, help build communities, etc. In the meantime, you gain structure and maybe also...

    LRT Safety

Why don’t we try it and find out? God knows everything else up to this point has failed. I was walking to breakfast last week. I walked along the new churchill station out side. Some one guy smoking crack inside our new connector and another guy smoking crack in one of the new out door shelter...
