    Calgary Restaurant Thread

I haven't been, but I swear we discussed this here before, and I can't find where. Seems like a cool building in a really bad location.

But again, there was a concern about overwhelming transfers to the red/blue lines if the green didn't go central enough/far enough into downtown.

I honestly lost track of what you're talking about here, but this is in particular not a good plan for a LRT line. Victoria Park and Erlton stations already serve these areas, and are just a little bit farther away. There are so many other routes to build before a line parallel to and 3.5 blocks...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I think it's preferable to an abandoned 2-storey building attracting squatters lighting fires.

What are the advantages of 11th? That the street is wider, and it already has utilities removed? And I guess a Beltline station that is 1 block deeper into the community? If we're going with elevated it just seems like both a longer and more disruptive route, with more storefronts and windows...

Keeping in mind that the funding that started this whole trainwreck (pun intended) was from Harper in 2015, and also, Poilievre is from Calgary.

Has this ever happened in other projects? The reason the tunnel is risky is that we don't actually know with 100% certainty what the geology of the route is. See some of the posts here in the last week - the layers in this part of the Bow valley are so varied that doing boreholes and taking...

I prefer to think of it as a woonerf, which is about as accurate as calling it a freeway.

I'd rather save tunneling for the red line (shallow tunnel under 8 Ave), and the green line north (into the escarpment and emerging just north of 20 Ave N).

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I know you're joking, but one will still be able to enter the parking lot from 7 St, and it looks like there's only a net loss of 2 spots (22 -> 20).

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

The 10 Ave station doesn't have to be literally elevated over 10 Ave. Keeping in mind that the line will be using low floor trains/trams that can do tight turns, the station could be built over the parking lot north of 10 Ave between 1 and 2 St SW.

I think that's the public comment period, which is before the city approves the permit. The city has now approved the permit, and it is on the public notices webpage (search for DP2024-04809) for 21 days. Appeals can be filed during that 21 day period. See...
