    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

The Ontario auditor general is supposed to be looking into how Metrolinx decides on station placement for the Ontario Line and the Yonge north extension. Source: Article from last September. This is not a direct answer to your question, but I'd like to flag something that might be coming out...

These are some great shots, as always. What's going on in the median of the bridge over the 403? Are those meant to be travel lanes? I could never tell when I'm driving past.

This would go a long way toward making that corner of city centre more walkable. The recommended alignment would only be possible with the redevelopment of 55 City Centre, though. And the 2022 Downtown Movement Plan says as much. I notice that the scale model has a couple of placeholder towers...

I thought this was interesting so I looked it up. Folks here might already be familiar with this context, but it bears reiterating now that there's some movement on it. 1.) The 2022 Mississauga Downtown Movement Plan lists the Downtown Mississauga Terminal and Transitway Connection ("DMTTC") as...

Thanks for this. There was a higher-res version posted on reddit. Here's the loop zoomed in...

Not a professional opinion, but my best guess is it's soil remediation. I do recall looking up the company name on the equipment on site and it came up with something like this.

Thanks for digging this up. With the overall build-out, no. Right now the signage at City Centre Terminal is atrocious, though, and the layout isn't immediately obvious to anyone who isn't yet familiar with it from use. Some important platforms are not where you'd think you'd find them. So...

2025-05-21. The view from the parks to its east might be its most flattering angle.

I was about to post a photo of this. I think you are right about the road. As you can see on the photo, the clearing is just east of Fairview Public School.

The last bit of news I heard involved offsetting the loss of Office Space in the "Square One District" with a higher office minimum GFA for this site:

Saw today that a big chunk of Zonta Meadows park is fenced off, with the playground being dismantled. Not sure if this is part of the work for Parkside Village, work being done to extend Prince of Wales Dr to Rathburn, or work on the park itself.

From Declan Finucane on InSauga: Biggest rainstorm in a century was no match for this part of new LRT line in Mississauga Maybe some of us took photos of Mary Fix Creek right after the two rainstorms? It'd be interesting to see what the new channel looked like.

Dug up the report and the annex. The gist seems to be re-designating three lots in the northwest of the Rathburn "Square One District" from office to mixed use and a park... ...with the loss of office space to be offset by specifying office use of minimum GFA of 1,858 sq. m. at site C...

Got a good look this evening at the sidewalk + bike lane as it runs underneath the reconfigured QEW underpass. I was pleasantly surprised - looks wide enough, and with a nice setback from the motor vehicle lanes on 10. There's also a new paved path that links to the older pedestrian tunnel east...

2024 Mississauga Mayoral Byelection Transit Plans

My impression of Tedjo on cycling is completely the opposite of yours. I went to two debates in person. I also got to ask cycling-related questions directly to Dasko and Tedjo at separate events. Tedjo had the most concrete answers around cycling infrastructure: accelerating the implementation...

2024 Mississauga Mayoral Byelection Transit Plans

Interesting. Could you go into a bit more detail about this? Why was Hydro One opposed to running the LRT in its corridor? And does this mean that transit under hydro corridors (a la GO-ALRT) is a non-starter elsewhere, or is this opposition specific to this alignment?

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

One problem I foresee with splitting into two lines arises from how the MCC loops for both lines will respectively travel in only one direction. Assuming the 2014 service pattern, with the northern line running one-way clockwise around MCC, trips coming from Brampton to the Square One GO...

This is great. Thanks for piecing this together. Is it alright if I repost this elsewhere? The Mississauga subreddit has more than a few people interested in this project.

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Agreed. Another problem with the proposed service pattern is it forces trips to the SQ1 transit terminal coming in from the north to either walk from Robert Speck, transfer to a northbound train from Robert Speck, or loop around downtown. Feels like a downgrade from existing bus services. ETA...
