The Dale and Galleria are other examples of non CharcWhites.Genuine question: is Roderick Lahey colour blind? Is his goal in life to make all of Ottawa suffer his ailment by only designing buildings in shades of grey? The only buildings I can think of his that are not charchwhites are the Ashcroft canyon on Richmond (beige), the Re Residence on Sparks (beige) and the Somerset Square mid-rise that evolved from a charchwhite tower well over zoning to a (shockingly) red brick box.
That said, this is still a good project. Very happy to see a first high-rise on St. Joseph (along with a few others approved and proposed closer to the mall and highway).
It was approved last week.
Right, Dale Isa good example of decent RLA. Kind of surprised Galleria was RLA. Was he responsible for Place Des Gouverneurs in a similar style? The Dale and Galleria are other examples of non CharcWhites.
They are capable of producing work with colour, but it doesn't seem like the developers, city council, and/or the community demand much from them. Somebody at that firm, likely the principle himself, would love to see Ottawa become a monochromatic hellhole.
