Interesting to see how the design of podium windows has changed. I'm not sure which I like better. Eventually, is the open space to the north still in the cards?

if you are talking about how something is situated, its still spelled 'center'. The french 'centre' refers to an institution or stadium or gathering place.

Don't hold your breath for those beautiful trees along Jarvis.

Yes. That area will soon become the site for the temporary farmers market, etc., while the St. Lawrence North Market is rebuilt. Afterwards though, it is slated to become a park. We are talking five years away though maybe?

The colour of the brick looks disappointingly dull. The architecture in the rendering was slightly simplified, removing some white accents among the windows and the white frame on top of the glazed upper section. The strongest aspects of the design were realized like the unusual windows and the way the upper section juts out, but it could have been better had all the details made it into the finished product and the brick was a (slightly) brighter red.
