I think most people are dropping "Life" from the name and just calling it M5V.... which sounds more like a robot from Star Wars (R2D2, C3PO) But yes, in general you are right, so many of the condo names are lame, bordering on embarrassing.

The rendering shows the red wall extending the length of the 2nd storey as well, although that does not appear to be happening seeing as they are dwellings. Think it will still look good?

Looked stupid before and will still look stupid.

Why are we adding splashes of colour to buildings? To make them "stand-out"? To individualize??

This is crazy!!! Gimmicky coloured LEDs and ridiculous red panels are nothing but that, gimmicky.

What ever happened to architecture? I'm waiting for this "trend" of adding colour to DIE.

And don't give everyone "well it serves a purpose, it's reducing the building's ecological footprint", whether you have mechanical on the top floor, the basement, or the middle of the building, it doesn't make a difference.

Can't say I can think of adding colour as some sort of carnal sin. This town is a bit on the beige side if truth be told.

This is a perfect example of ignorance. It doesn't matter where your mechanical room is? Before you start spouting your misinformation - please understand the basics of physics.

From an environmental, energy savings, and engineering stand point, having a penthouse in the middle of your building is ideal. This cuts distribution of services (in this particular case, Domestic hot water and Air), as the air handling units fans will require less static pressure to deliver the air to the space with the largest amount of pressure loss (usually, the longest path). If you think about that logically, and you don't need to be an engineer to do so, then you'll know that the path is about half, when your mechanical room is at the half way point of your building.

This is why when you look to the old TD banking towers, the engineers and designers had the foresight to place the mechanical rooms at 1/3 and 2/3's of the way up. The amount of energy to drive any service up or down those massive towers would be phenomenal.. not to mention motors to drive the fans and pumps didn't exist at that time (or were rare).

So... yes.. it's unfortunate that the building is not up to your architectural standards... but like art... it's subjective. Science on the other hand... pretty objective.
