Looks completely reasonable in the last render - set back from the street and of similar height to other towers in the area.
The first 3 renders look like condo marketing tools - make it look as tall and prominent as possible.
 
I kind of understand their rationale...but how is a tower here inappropriate when they're okay for the Distillery District?
 
What kind of compromise can be made? Neutering it by lobbing off 20-odd floors and fattening it up? I think Lamb and Clewes should fight to maintain the integrity of the design as is. I'd welcome an appeal to the OMB in this case.

Judging from the build quality of some of Lamb's other projects, maybe this was a good decision.
