Sound proofing between a music venue and residential is not something that a Calgary developer would want to pay for. There's enough money available in places with higher costs, but I don't think it would be cost-competitive enough here.
 
Bigger spot and arguably a better location since it's nearby university and SAIT, off of Crowchild & 16th (easier access for NW & SW residence), by LRT station, and close to Kensington and downtown still.

Also the relatively successful orange line BRT.

I wouldn't quite say it's a better location though, because unlike Inglewood, you can't hop to other bars, breweries or restaurants nearby.
 
Not sure how many SAIT students will go to the new spot, the blues aren't a big draw for those in their early 20s. That's also a strange spot too since it's upstairs with the door in the parking lot, won't really add street level vibrancy. Better than a vacant building for sure though.
