The tapering looks a lot nicer than I expected. Looks like it's just about the same height as The Bow now.

Almost exactly the same height. One more floor of concrete to pour for the core, and then the rest is steel. Steel will go up about 40' past the top of the core.

It's amazing how tall this one is yet we're still months away from top out.

It seems like they are doing a section of three floors at a time over a period of 2 weeks per section. Once they finish this section, there will be another three floor section and then the crown which will be a non- standard section. Not sure how long that will take.

Might not even take months. Doesn't steel go up pretty quickly?

By "months" I did mean like literally only 2 months ;) haha. Due to the (possibly) complex nature of the crown, I expect the steel work to slow down a bit once that point is reached.

It looks like the concrete core might be done now. They are taking the forms off, but not moving them up.

That last photo is quite illustrative of Brookfield Place's current problem, that car park. It looks hideous. Which doesn't mean it isn't functional, but dang if it isn't spoiling the view. I'm guessing that's where tower two is supposed to go 200 years from now? Any word on the companion? Hopefully it ends up like 8th Ave place and the wait isn't too extravagant.

The difference between Brookfield Place West and Eighth Avenue Place West is that the foundation of EAP west was built along with the east tower. With Brookfield West, there is a substantial demolition and a 7 story parkade to build, so it will take a long time even when it does begin construction which likely won't be until the 2020s.

I don't care if I ever see the west tower get built, but that parkade is ugly as sin. Maybe in 5 years they will be tired of the parkade, and decide to build a hotel or residential tower there.

Hell, I'd even take a nicer parking garage! All of those street corners would benefit greatly from something more accessible though. It doesn't have to be Brookfield's little brother.

100% exact. There are enough examples of good parkade renos to use as an example. I'd be happy with almost anything, but would love to see a urban format retailer, with some other smaller stores built in. Who knows maybe a driving range on top
