I remember being at the public bridge discussions a few years ago.
There was talk of pedestrian on one side of the bridge and cyclists on the other.
Don't know if that is still the plan but I rather like cycle lanes if they can integrate it well on the north end.

I hope they go with as light of a design as possible. Possibly could do a ped path on one side of the tracks and a bike lane suspended underneath to break up the underside something similar to the NW red line bridge

I don't think anything other than a bridge for the C train is necessary. A short distance to the west is the pedestrian bridge on Princes Island and a short distance to the east is the Centre St bridge.

Don't like the idea of a sidewalk on one side and bike lane on the other, will just mean lots of people walking on the bike lane and riding on the sidewalk. Both sides should have multi modal pathways or it should only be on one side.

It was another element added to the project without accounting for cost. That being said, the cost would be minimal. But I doubt the bridge as conceptualized will be built, the entire north of Eau Claire porition has compromises in it that if revisited get reversed. That we nickle and dimed the section while adding $200 million of stations in the Beltline astounds me.

Just put separated bike lanes on the Centre St Bridge.

Whether the first part of the north segment is built now or later, it'll be a massive transport capacity increase that would negate much of the need for lanes on Centre Street Bridge (and all of Centre Street for that matter).

Would be a easy to descope the cycling and pedestrian portion of that bridge and make the change to Centre Street (no idea if that's a real money saver though, bridges are just really expensive).

And take the bike lanes on Edmonton Trail up the hill too!

So does the LRT station come first, then Harvard's development? If so, that pushes the whole Eau Claire redo out several years. That's too bad given the all the improvements on the pathway and west of Prince's Island. It is going to be one continuous construction site in that area

Why not operate... the ummmm ... aquatic centre that already exists.

Well maybe not another library, but definitely an aquatic centre, and perhaps sport courts, a fitness centre, and a community centre!
