I'm with you on the Tourism Calgary building. I don't know how something like that got built in the first place.
There are plenty of others. How long will this building where MODA architects are located, be around?

The front office is probably a cool place to work but how do you justify 1-2 floor structure on this valuable piece of property?

Points about the Calgary Tourism Bldg are Well Taken. Is it worth Preserving. My views, I hardly think so. Would probably B better to cut a Deal of Sorts and Move into a more Modern Space Environment to Operate out Off.Weather it happens is something else. Yes the Bldg/Land is worth a lot. I will B Interested to see what takes place in the coming years.

I've been inside the MODA office and it's a nice space, as would be expected. The building itself, is probably ripe for a small development of some kind. It would be the perfect place for a mixed use building. Given the FAR to work with it would probably be about 10-12 floors, but that's still a good fit.

I would like to see something like Edmonton's Edge building go in that spot.

^ Perhaps would be a retain the street facing studio, redevelop all else. The site is pretty constrained, not sure what could go up there. A tower condo/apartment tower might work, with a 6000-7500 square foot floor plate. A bit small for offices IMO.

Perhaps much of the density at one point in time had already been traded away

One of the problems is that building is old and falling apart. I do agree that it is a cool style, but the issue is that maybe something could be of better use for that space. If that building was over in Sunalta area for example, I would say leave it and never touch it.
 
I’ve watched them take this old building down. Where does all the old concrete and steel go. The were some pretty good sized beams. Could they be reused? I’m guessing all the rebar goes to be melted down somewhere. Do we have a steel plant in this area or does it go over seas?

That Demolition Derby didn't take Long. Guess a Lot goes into Land Fill That Scrap Must get Cut Up Some place and Go for Scrap, Must B Worth Some kind of Money.

I've seen people use the crushed up aggregate (sometimes called 'crush') as an under base for patio stones instalments, or as an underbase for a new concrete pad etc..
