Here are some pics of the nearly complete 33 Cordova project by Westbank in Vancouver (from Roundabout's update). This is a really good example of what i would like to see here, including the lane activation of Blood Alley and the 'mews' mid-block walkthrough. This is what i would like to see for this block:

Great project. Don't want to toot my own horn but....
This could be a great project but I feel like they could use someone like Henriquez to come in and better assemble the pieces.

The only thing retained for 33 Cordova are the facades. I prefer more to be retained here. I also wouldn't want to have facades combined for one large modern building. IMHO>This is not a ideal example for here.

IMO the best thing that could happen to this site would be a similar project to Bjarke Ingel's KING Toronto. Excellent preservation of historical buildings while adding another layer of architectural beauty.

It uses a glass block material to allow light in during the day and "glow" at night.

The project is by Westbank, who also did the Telus Sky.

That’s pretty cool but is it just me, or do y’all think the historic buildings get lost in the design?

BIG's King is even worst than the Vancouver one. A nearly complete half kilometre block of individual heritage buildings demolished or extremely altered and added to the larger structure. It has an interesting form. The large scale is commonplace. The group of old brick warehouses on small lots it replaces is rare even in Toronto.
