Right now the corner is being used for staging. I see a crane and the start of a hoist. It can't be built until those are removed which probably won't be until the rest of the tower is completed. It's a tight site.

This is a infill project in Toronto

This gap was used to hoist the buckets of concrete. Completed a year later

They definitely did modify it from the looks of it. Maybe they will use steel as you suggested, but you would think concrete would be easier if they were already doing concrete on the rest of the floor.

I wonder if it was a shading issue? The overhang does cover a fair bit of the corner, and the renderings show were in with the DP before it was approved. Maybe it was changed at some point during the approval process.
Now that you mention it, it does stick out a fair bit, and I'm not sure I like it.

No, they just haven't poured the overhand portion that will go over the sidewalk along centre street. That's why they didn't put glazing there when they hung the glazing for the 2nd floor. Be patient, the overhangs will come.

I like the fact that it's a restaurant that overhangs. If it was office space, I would rather they nix the overhang.

I like that Photo of the building looking at the Eastside of it with the dark sky reflecting off the windows This can be an amazing look when all of the building is finished on that side.

Looking really great so far!

9th floor eh? Not too shabby. Almost 1/6 of the way there :p

Only a few more floors man. Should start to see the curve by the beginning of February :)

And almost two full floors of glass. Once we get about 4 or 5 floors of glass we'll get a better idea on the look of the glass.

Definitely, I'm still not entirely sold on the matte black (zinc?) spandrel.
