I will have to poke through it more detail later. Found the renders you guys were talking about. DO WANT! :) The "Gateway Plaza" is a fascinating idea. I think could do better than the blocky asymetrical pathway proposal though. It jars with all of the elegant European examples they show. Not to mention the 100+ year old centre stree bridge which will sit at the bottom of it.

No problem. Those renders really show the potential for that currently underutilized corridor .. Adding LRT is a coup for it and should help push developments like the Tigerstedt Block into the fold.

A great looking development, good scale.
 
Just had a look through those renderings. I'm glad the city is starting oput with a vision of not just the train itself, but the whole corridor, and its nodes. This is awesome. Thanks for that HEP.
 
Has there been any kind of timeline put forward for the redevelopment?

I took a cruise on Google Maps and I can see what you mean about there being manifold other ugly buildings on Centre, but I have to hope the added elevation will be a boon. We can only stay optimistic that this will be the first of many projects for the area.

I know what you mean! That block has always had retail in it as well.
 
Even though this would probably turned out pretty well given that Certus is the developer, there’s a part of me that hopes it never gets developed.
The strip of businesses that are there now are doing very well. I go by there at least once a week and the strip is always busy. Especially Two Pillars, they seem to be hitting it out of the park lately.

The Tigerstedt Block is a perfect example of why retail up to the street is 100 times better than retail places with parking lot in front.

There are a number of good businesses along Centre Street between 7th ave and 16th Ave, but unfortunately some of them are in these suburban strip malls with the parking lots. Centre Street could be almost as vibrant as 10th St. NW or 4th Street through mission if it was designed differently.
