Climate change is doing no favours for young plantings. It is also how we plant them. We rely on heavy machinery which compacts the soil and doesn't allow for roots to spread. Soil cells are proven tech but, expensive.

The other thing that's odd is that black wall protruding out at the corner of the intersection. What a terrible design decision.

That's the garbage enclosure, have to have it accessible for pickup and there's no alley to hide it in. I'd rather see that black wall than a bunch of dumpsters...
