It appears that the big - coupled - rebar is being used for the horizontal as well as the vertical - note the staggered endings (earthquake code ?).

There appears to be quite a big gap in the mat -

Anyone know the use of the thin (rusted) reinforcing wire - I would think the thick bar would be sufficient.

- massive mat pour of 4,000 cy of concrete, 400 truckloads.

started at 8am by 5:30pm they were wrapping up.
