Down near the docks at Lakeshore there is a spiderweb of tracks that go along Lakeshore Blvd East and Villers Street. My question is why did Canadian Pacific Railway didn't remove the trackage and how come Canadian National think of buying those tracks. They aren't in really bad shape, here are a few pictures from today.

Those tracks are history as they will be remove when this area gets torn up and rebuilt as Lower Don over the next 10 years.

The silo's in the photo are staying.

A photo for the history file as Toronto past.

I always found abandoned rail tracks fascinating. Personally, I'd like to see them integrated into the redevelopment, somewhat like what montreal did at Vieux-Port

The tracks actually belong to TEDCO (as did the ones on Queen's Quay which went to Redpath Sugar. These have, mostly, been removed.) As Drum118 says, they will all be removed when this section of the waterfront gets developed. There are several theads on this and more on Waterfront Toronto website.
