At last... my annual post-Doors Open ritual, the photo thread!
Here are some photos and videos I took on the Saturday of Doors Open...
CCBR:
MaRS:
Video of the glass elevator trip up to the 8th floor
Jazz:
Entrance lobby
Entrance lobby
"Heritage Suite" bedroom- window is built to align with the opening in the historic facade fronting Church St.
Party room
View across the street to Metropolitan United Church
Ahh... outdoor patio with BBQ grill and a view to the Spire... perfect place for a forum meet!
Metropolitan United Church
Taking a page out of Chartres... a labyrinth
Ontario Place (Eb Zeidler presentation in the Cinesphere... I took some photos of the slides in the presentation, but they turned out dark- I guess you should adjust your screens)
Sketch describing the construction of the Pods, the original component of the Ontario Place design. Barrier islands to counter wave action would cut down on construction costs to build the Pods.
Creating a waterfront for people, not cars... still a valid idea today!
Building the man-made islands
Components of Ontario Place
Layout and circulation of the Pods
Circulation through the Pods
Section of the Cinesphere- the first permanent IMAX theatre in the world
Cinesphere under construction
Section through the old Forum
Site plan principles of Ontario Place
Ontario Place today:
City Hall (East Tower Observation Deck)
Sign in the elevator
Walking around the City Hall observation deck
That's it for Day 1!
