Thanks for the pics, Wylie. Hamilton is just so underrated. Some great pics of the source of my avatar.

Now look at this. A nice, urban railway station surrounded by the city with great intermodality... now if there was only a train every half hour rather than 4 round-trips a day. A classic case of "if this was Europe we'd have...".

Great photos of my hometown Wylie!! Thank you. You did a good tour of the downtown core area in one day and hit many of the highlights.

"if this was Europe we'd have..."

True, CDL. But the problem with GO, as noted on this forum before, is that GO doesn't own the railway tracks. The Lakeshore line is mostly owned by CN, and the last stretch into downtown Hamilton is owned by CP (formerly TH&B). Neither of these entities is particularly concerned about GO, especially if there is a revenue-generating freight train to be moved.

Doors Open Hamilton competed with the Jane's Walks here in Toronto. I might have gone otherwise. Thanks for the pics.

The Hamilton TH&B station is such a beauty.

If this were Europe, the railways would have been nationalized and the passenger trains given priority. GO is adding extra track capacity, so there will likely be all-day service to Aldershot (better access at least to Hamilton, faster bus ride) and a few more trains to Hamilton. Not much though.

I was up photographing trilliums in Bruce County woods this weekend - your pics made me wish I could do it all Wylie. It's been a while since I've been to the railway station there, and you've really made me want to go back again. The exterior of the armoury too - Wow! I'll have to do next year's Door Open Hamilton...

Poor Victor looks a bit under the weather, doesn't he possums? The big stag's head looks healthier; I'd love to get one for my place, but they're becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Love that plastic topiary at the Chateau Royale. The four pink urns containing the remains of workmen who died during construction are also a nice touch.

A lot of nice old architecture in that city, and some fantastic homes just north along the escarpment. All my time there I never checked out Whitehern despite living just a couple of blocks away on Charlton. Cool to see the inside-but was there really something special about that toilet? :)

Thanks for the tour.
