I know there's a food thread in urban living, but it's more focussed upon information about restaurant openings than visuals. And, visuals are a great way to explore our food scene, in restaurant and out.

For example, this is what landed upon my desk just now. The other half made an early, early run to Home Despot to pick up some parts for a project in the new house. On the way home, the Dutch Delicious Bakery and Deli called out to her, thus the pastries and Stroopwaffle (years ago when a friend moved here from the Netherlands to do her PhD, she was eventually beset by the WHERE CAN YOU EVEN GET A DECENT STROOPWAFFLE IN THIS TOWN, and this turned out to be the place). The cherries were obtained last night at the 124 Street Grand Market, on a rather stifling bike ride that saw us end up at Tiramisu for dinner. It's a much smaller market than the Sunday Grand Market, and even than the currently one block Downtown Farmers' Market, but it does have a certain charm for being held on a little street in Westmount, shaded by the tall elm trees. Tea is the University of Alberta blend from Vintage Fork, who used to run the cafe in Rutherford House, but have since moved on to operating out of an old house in Alberta Avenue.

Oh, and the mug was made in a pottery class at the Garneau Arts Centre.
