This is badly needed. Also with the jasper ave construction and LRT right now, to get from the funicular back to 100th Ave bike lanes required us biking up to 105th Ave then down 106st. Big detour. This bridge connection will be a huge help.

It's part of a larger plan to continue Heritage Trail to connect to the Convention Centre.

This is badly needed. Also with the jasper ave construction and LRT right now, to get from the funicular back to 100th Ave bike lanes required us biking up to 105th Ave then down 106st. Big detour. This bridge connection will be a huge help.

The bridge is a big deal because once you cross McDougall Hill / 100 St. from the Funicular, you can easily get to 100th Avenue and the bike lanes via MacDonald Drive and 102 Street. Currently, in order to do that though, you need to cross 3 lanes of traffic and hope no one is coming up the hill.

People's perceptions are that it's not used. The only time they hear about it is when glass is broken or it is out of order. Usage numbers have probably been shared but not much awareness out there.
I've used it twice - nobody else around though at the time.

It and the area improvements are reasonably well used and an important connector/functional addition to the overall network.

This bridge, plus the northern terminus of the Gondola, will make this a huge pedestrian hub.

Have they ever released usage numbers? Would be interested to see! Every time I've used there at least a few others on it or waiting and 6-12 people in the area (lookout or walkways)

I'd make it wider, to allow for biking, maybe a few benches, a proper lookout on the hill side.
This needs to have a little more "grandeur" than this.

The gondola stop is proposed a bit further west of the bridge along Macdonald Drive, which will only be a short walk to the funicular using the future bridge.
