This is badly needed. Also with the jasper ave construction and LRT right now, to get from the funicular back to 100th Ave bike lanes required us biking up to 105th Ave then down 106st. Big detour. This bridge connection will be a huge help.
The bridge is a big deal because once you cross McDougall Hill / 100 St. from the Funicular, you can easily get to 100th Avenue and the bike lanes via MacDonald Drive and 102 Street. Currently, in order to do that though, you need to cross 3 lanes of traffic and hope no one is coming up the hill.
 
I love how many people continue to believe that it is unused...

People's perceptions are that it's not used. The only time they hear about it is when glass is broken or it is out of order. Usage numbers have probably been shared but not much awareness out there.
I've used it twice - nobody else around though at the time.
