Wow. That's a major disappointment. The size reduction is one thing, but the complete lack of ANY retail is such a shame and complete departure from the goals of the project initially. Classic Edmonton
Yet across the street and throughout that area of the 99st, companies like Beljan are making commercial work.Sadly, it is more of a comment on where the market is than anything.
I mean, there's definitely no lack of demand for housing in the City, but perhaps just a lack of the $/sq. ft. that would command a tower. Good design is not tied to dollars though - hiring a competent architect can be done even on a budget and this was obviously not done here.Sadly, it is more of a comment on where the market is than anything.
When someone can add all these things right across the street, it is clear that the no demand argument is a sham or a lie.Used to be a great community hub on that location. There's still demand for those services which have found homes across the street, Beljan development pub will open soon and a book store has been announced.
It would be a huge shame to not at least have a corner CRU in this development, regardless of the design. If you don't design it with one you can never have one in the future, ever.
