Construction starts on downtown Edmonton's tallest condo-only tower
Construction has started on a 43-storey downtown luxury tower set to be Edmonton’s tallest condominium-only building.
The Encore Tower was slated to begin going up last fall, but developer Westrich Pacific Corp. pushed back that date to deal with internal planning and complete its Ultima Tower a block north, co-chief executive David Sanche said Thursday.
“We wanted to focus on one thing at a time … That tower is 100 per cent sold, 100 per cent occupied. Now we’re starting on Encore.”
The glass-walled building, on a former parking lot at the corner of 103 Street and 102 Avenue, will have 179 units featuring three-metre-high ceilings and “over-the-top” kitchens with stainless steel appliances, flat-panel drawers and cabinet doors, and quartz countertops, Sanche said.
The three-storey lobby is outfitted with marble walls and a waterfall, while the fifth floor on top of the podium has an outdoor wading pool and lounge with indoor-outdoor fireplace as well as an indoor gym and bar.
