Ran into someone who was involved with this project and he indicated that we should see shovels this summer.
Exciting news! I'm on the fence about the design as it would appear many of you are as well. But adding density is good and maybe having this project getting going will encourage some others to start construction.

Lopped 30% of the height off of 'er, that's a pretty substantial reduction in scale. I wonder what size they plan tower 2 to be.
 
Still it will be good to have something here. The area needs more people and this location has been a surface parking lot for far too long.

More people, reduced parking lots and good design are what this downtown needs. I wouldn't be disappointed if all new buildings coming up in the next couple of years were a third less height if it meant filling up a third more of our lifeless dt space. We have so much available land not to mention some existing buildings that could probably be redeveloped when the time comes.
