I feel the market currently is leaning towards smaller and more affordable projects, so this makes some sense. You improve the area a bit by building this and then go on to bigger and better after.

I do see some logic here, not sure if it will turn out, but hope it does.

For anyone to suggest downtown is on it's way to recovery and doesn't need anymore public investment is quite frankly delusional. To often the city has walked away from investing more thinking the same thing only to have the economic fire smolder and go out. Keep pouring gasoline on the economic fire until it gets out of control.

IIRC the motion that actually got passed is for administration to provide a report detailing how the city's $35m contribution could be put toward replacing Coliseum Station (I think to determine how much of the cost it covers). So I dunno why the province worded it like that in their post.

I assume this is the Province's way of trying to say they are ok with part of the funds being used for the LRT stations. I suppose the city could still possibly go in a different direction, but it seems where this is headed.
