Truly a huge public service. Plus the city did improve the west side as well. For a major roadway, it’s about as good as can be.Its amazing how some of you folks were saying that this street is not pedestrian friendly when we were debating about this project before it got off the ground. I think Beljan did a great job making it pedestrian friendly.
I was there Wednesday night for dinner. I loved the space. I had a very tasty Korean chicken sandwich and honey fries. It wasn't very busy, unfortunately, but it was only Wednesday, I guess. Here's a few shots of the third floor.

I did walk along it recently and I agree they did a good job. However, I think it might also help to put some planters or something closer to the road to provide more of a buffer. Its amazing how some of you folks were saying that this street is not pedestrian friendly when we were debating about this project before it got off the ground. Majority of that discussion was surrounding the Iron Horse Line still to be done south of MKT, which only just saw major improvement to the pedestrian experience after the 2022/23 renewal. Prior to that, there wasn't even a contiguous sidewalk from Whyte along the east side of Gateway... definitely nice to see major improvements to this stretch come to fruition. Its amazing how some of you folks were saying that this street is not pedestrian friendly when we were debating about this project before it got off the ground. Add some street planters to shield pedestrians from the traffic. Plant some blood red geraniums in them to accentuate the black siding and the female crowd will be in awe.Its amazing how some of you folks were saying that this street is not pedestrian friendly when we were debating about this project before it got off the ground. I really really wanted to like this project, but it just looks terrible jammed right up against the old rail station.
“Hennessey teased that Beljan is also working on a residential development south of MKT”Why one shop owner traded a storefront for a shipping container
Gayle Martin took a chance when she switched her Whyte Avenue storefront for a shipping container at Station Park, and, so far, the owner of The Wish List Gifts says she sees both pros and cons to the move.edmonton.taproot.news
The transition from the old train station to Beljan's container park is fine with me but the renderings do have a bait and switch element to them. The absence of landscaping along Gateway is a missed opportunity to seamlessly tie the project into Whyte Avenue. Even more so if the east side of Gateway, north of Whyte is developed into a park.I really really wanted to like this project, but it just looks terrible jammed right up against the old rail station.
Who did MKT piss off to lose that awesome patio they had?
I'd say MKT's patio got even better when the moved it to the south side of the building. They've got some couches / lounge spaces set up, it now wraps along the side of the building as well, and I'd say it's a little quieter (street noise) than the last one. My own experience, anyway.I really really wanted to like this project, but it just looks terrible jammed right up against the old rail station.
