I met this developer many times, helped with some pre-construction. In ideal timing this project may have taken off but a few things that made me think the project wouldn't go.
I asked why did you decided to build in Edmonton - My girlfriend is from Edmonton and she keeps asking me when I am going to build in Edmonton.
also, the amount of amenities in the building that they wanted to put in was way over the top, super expensive and they had exterior concrete features up the whole building that were going to be insane expensive.

The longer this site sits vacant, the more aggravated I get. Nothing like some 🤡s from Toronto evicting a number of small local businesses from their affordable retail spaces on Jasper Avenue, demolishing the buildings, then realizing the economics here don't print money like they do in Ontario, so they abandon it as a weed covered field for four consecutive years and counting.

Me, I would love to have another Find store in the core... alas

Yeah, this one especially sucks cause it was a good retail wall, not just empty dirt.

Exactly, this sort of destruction of an area is what happens when you have someone from far away with more money than brains come in half cocked, who then realizes they don't understand the market, of course after the existing buildings have been torn down. You can't just undo a demolition.

Sucks that they aren't selling it
Almost like Streamliner is gonna sit here and not sell for years then Propose a Mediocre 2 floor Commercial Building,

This is exactly the reason why I voted for "I dislike this a lot" on this page's poll. I had a strong feeling we'd end up with a vacant lot for years rather than the good and useful retail that existed here before.
