Really that whole section should just be elevated from Princess Elizabeth to just before the Prince of Wales Armoury with an elevated Kingsway RAH station. Alas, this city is cheap and so we will have to deal with the half-assed decision making for at least a generation or two

Again, a reminder that the City had considered this before:

A little aside: the City had the choice of "fixing" the original NAIT line by grade separating past 105 St, or extending the line to Blatchford. No prizes for guessing which option the City went with.

One more thing is that MacEwan Station should have been buried and the tunnel portal extended to 105 St. It would have avoided the hokey at-grade turn and improved ventilation in the tunnel -- the prevailing winds blow eastward and straight into MacEwan portal, those who remember how things were pre-Metro Line may notice how cold Churchill Station gets in the winter now.

Very interesting. With how undeveloped Blatchford remains, I can't help but think this was a missed opportunity to get this section of the Metro Line "right" before it becomes harder/more expensive while Blatch fills in.

Probably cost was a factor originally, we do like to do things on the cheap. Sometimes we are the capital of missed opportunities.

New stations, with very bright station signage. Very unique to see split platforms on the high-floor system. The terrain around Blatchford Gate Station is sloped up to the platform height, interestingly.

Dinky little crossing lights right in front of the new NAIT station. They’re cute, but we should really be using crossing gates along the whole high-floor line to improve speed and reliability. Maybe we should swap these for the crossing gates in Galaxyland…

I like the look of the new stations. However access to the new NAIT station is very problematic. DND should allow a sidewalk through the armoury parking lot.
