I go past it almost daily and it’s so bad that I can’t even be bothered to take a pic ahha. But I will so we can collectively pour one out for this travesty of urbanism.
156& stony/100ave might be one of the worst intersections in our city with the highest investment of public dollars up front, and in operating dollars.
If they don’t get housing built, and some strip malls demolished in the next decade, it’ll be a tough story to tell in regards to transit investment and the whole orange hub debacle.
I drive by it every day on my way home from work and it looks horrific at the moment. It will really need the pixelated sweeping wingdings like in the rendering and the landscaping to look okay.
City’s Orange Hub awards management contract to Grindstone Theatre Society June 27, 2024 The City of Edmonton and Grindstone Theatre Society are excited to announce that Grindstone has been awarded
Including purchase price, parkade rehab and other renos, this facility has cost the City over $60m and that doesn't include all the operating costs. I get this is part of trying to revitalize SPR and ties directly into the VLW, but man oh man that's a lot of money spent for some non-profit programming space and a relatively small theatre
I also don't understand the decision to build this abhorrent above ground parkade for $9m extra instead of a basic ground level parkade, especially when the VLW Jasper Place station will be literally across the street?
Isn't the point to encourage use of the LRT to reach destinations like this?
