If this was somewhere prominent, I don’t think I’d like it. But for this little strip I think it’s cute and quirky. Hopefully prices are reasonable. The more new affordable rental stock in the area, the more all the crappy little walk ups will have to upgrade/redevelop.

I really like this little development, and in my mind it shows the power of mixed-use buildings which front the street as opposed to the 1970's low-rise walkups with huge lawns in front. If, as these areas redevelop gradually, new multi-family takes the forms more like this we could see very walkable and dense inner-city neighborhoods compared to what we've seen before

Hopefully (and rumour has it), the new zoning bylaw will make smaller, mixed use projects like this a bit easier to develop.
