Stephen Teeple, the architect, was interviewed in this article. According to him, the Minler "is “clearly the best” of recently completed libraries across Canada, including the Central Library in Calgary" and he implies that Edmontonians don't like it because they aren't "used to how dynamic it is."![]()

I don't want to be rude, because the interior seems genuinely nice, but these comments reek of some willful ignorance.
Teeple's own marketing staff know the outside of the building is a dog. The portfolio on their website has the interior of the Milner and the exterior of their other buildings. Edit: Within their budget they did a good job delivering what should be an ultra low maintenance exterior.I hate to break it to Mr. Teeple, but when the exterior design turns into a meme that many across the country have taken the piss out of, he might want to reconsider that it's only Edmontonians who don't "get it".
