What do you think of this project?

my buddy manages the cactus on jasper. Said they looked initially is what he heard, but stuck with their jasper location. They see it as meeting the same “area need”, while having parking, less social issues, and cheaper rates than ice district.

Parking?! There’s more parking available near ID than where they currently are. Especially during the winter months when you would not even need to go outside.ID is also easier to get to by transit, bike, scooter, walk and is closer to more hotels and residences (foxes, Icons, Stantec, etc.). Plus, people already go to Cactus to go to Cactus, I’m sure they wouldn’t miss a beat—many would probably prefer it. Cheaper rates I can understand.

When people complain about lack of parking they are almost always just complaining about lack of free parking.

They actually were very, very close to opening something a little different in Manulife where RBC was with a rooftop bar.

Almost 1,000 people are living directly above the Ice district plaza. When you add in hotel visitors and staff, at any point in time there is at least 1,200. The Ultima has another 250 or so.

I am the biggest fan of Chipotle on this forum……who knows maybe the local franchisee is already engaged in negotiations to move into Stantec
 
I think a Chipotle would do better in Brewery District or the Canterra Shopping Centre on 109 st & Jasper (but not unless Mucho Burrito moved out) than in Ice District right now.
 
Hotels need more options for those coming into town in the evening and on weekends. Choices are rather limited and often closed in the evening as they are catering to the office crowd. Plus, it would be a destination, but I would agree that the area needs more regular activity, including but not limited to another mid-ranged hotel and a few more apartment towers.
