Black frames/framing = yes please!
But a ton of those single story buildings are well utilized and affordable. I much rather have developments like this one a block off 124st for now, rather then tearing down single stories full of neat businesses just to put up buildings with cookie cutter expensive CRUs that’ll sit empty for years like augustana, pearl, illuminada, fox, South Park, etc…Would be great to see a handful of 4-12 story projects north of stony on 124st. The sense of “wall” still has too many holes or very small single story buildings that aren’t “heritage” or interesting. Replacing those with some quality mid rises would do wonders for the vibrancy of 124, brewery district, & west Oliver.
Yes, that's the problem with the CRUs in all those nice new buildings that seem to be empty for quite a while. I suspect they are not that affordable, particularly for local and small businesses. But a ton of those single story buildings are well utilized and affordable. Definitely. Tons of awesome ones along the stretch I wouldn’t want to see gone. But also a good collection of less ideal ones that impact the sense of “Main Street” I’d say. Here’s a few examples of ones I’m thinking of:But a ton of those single story buildings are well utilized and affordable. I can agree that some of the less interesting buildings can go, but we have to be careful about the pace in which we demolish existing utilized buildings along 124 Street. There are plenty of holes along 124 Street or just off 124 Street to the east that can also be tackled. Let's build on the momentum of the district, prove the viability of the area, before we start demolition of the existing viable yet uninteresting buildings and then get upset that market demand is not enabling new development. Let's reach a critical mass in terms of viability. Let's avoid the mistakes of our downtown.Definitely. Tons of awesome ones along the stretch I wouldn’t want to see gone.
