More Wem station girders are up

Gantry is back where it started

I don't particularly understand the focus on trackbed over road on SPR through Glenora.

A trackbed by itself is probably not a big deal. When the trackbed is on a section of road that has been closed for three years and due to open next month, it's great to see progress.

Weather starts hitting negatives next week. Sure hope this section opens up asap. Bridge and east of groat still needs a lot of work.

But thankfully they’re finishing track bed and random curbs elsewhere…?

This is what people mean by construction timing. Get this section reopened already, sheesh.

People are so in favour of moving towards environment sustainability transit and better mobility, but when construction actually takes time to build, we NEED to open the road.
Track work is easier to do when the road is closed. I don’t know what’s so hard to understand about it. They have until the end of November, they have lots of time

Of course track work is easier when closed. So do the work. Instead of having 5 guys every 20 blocks along the route doing curbs, get the most critical sections finished and opened. SPR being opened will help relieve 102ave which is seeing brutal congestion right now. That bridge connection is key.

What’s hard to understand is the businesses and residents that were told one thing and now it’s dragging on way past initial timelines and there seems to be little effort to actually reopen the road. Why random parts of 156st are finished when the bridge over groat for SPR isn’t, makes no sense. Reallocate labour to reduce disruptions and traffic congestion.

I’m meeting with a city spokesperson and PR consultant for the project soon. Will share what they tell me about the delays. Apparently the city is “working on its messaging”.
