yea catalyzing new development is the only metric where LRT performs way better than BRT, though far more urban developments are already being proposed along the route regardless of transit options so i dont think it enough to affect the decision. A line 4 extension would certainly bring plenty of new development to Scarborough.
"way better" is probably an exaggeration. Look at what York Region was able to pull off with BRT running every 30m 🤣

I been saying that they need to grade separate the Kingston Rd, Lawrence and morningside intersection. Remove some left turns and use two stage crossing. Figure out how to implement transit priority before building.

this is what I'd vote for. Scarborough would greatly benefit from this.

I am catching up over the past year's worth of posts in this thread and this below, wow.
At least part of the Eglinton East LRT would follow part of the former Kingston Road Radial line. Note that the radial line was on its own right-of-way. When they abandoned the radial line, they widened Kingston Road paving over the right-of-way to make for more lanes for the automobile.

They should post the old Kingston Radial "stop numbers" on the LRT stops along Kingston Road. If we can find historical references to the stop numbers.
So you are telling me they figured this out in Toronto a century ago. Progress truly is not always linear.

I wonder if the best solution to Eglinton East LRT, rather than trying to recreate the Eglinton-Kingston-Morningside route, is a combination of the McCowan-Eglinton infill suggested by @Northern Light (no doubt by other people as well) and an upgrade to Lakeshore East GO, with an improved connection at Danforth GO for Line 2 transfers. Spend some time with the remaining RapidTO lanes and work out ways to smooth the bus flow through the chokepoints.

Of course, we would need to avoid a reprise of Smarttrack and the Railpath's questionable accounting. But even if this thing runs 20 km/h, which seems questionable with the TTC hanging around, it's not a lot of travel time improvement for the cost, and it just does not justify the cost of grade separation - GO is half the travel time from Guildwood to Main Street, which would be a good connection if only the frequency was every ten minutes or less instead of thirty.

The downsides to this late night crayon are Malvern and UTSC. Malvern could conceivably be served by adding the 133 Neilson and maybe the 131 Nugget to the 10 minute network. I will admit that I have no solution for UTSC off my head. Otherwise, riders headed to Eglinton or local destinations could continue to ride the bus while those going anywhere west of ~Victoria Park would transfer to GO.

No doubt I will wake up tomorrow morning with another even crazier "idea".
