‘Penalized for having been born abroad’: Foreign-born Canadians take government to court over second-generation cut-off rule

This seems like a ridiculous demand. I was born in the UK, and applied for and obtained UK citizenship for my Toronto-born children when they were infants. But should the UK then be expected to grant citizenship to my children’s children when they’re not born in the UK either? I say no. Canada should say the same.
If your parents were not Canadian citizens, and you were not born in Canada…. then you have no right to Canadian citizenship. You can still apply to reside in Canada and apply for citizenship like I, and every other immigrant does.
