Frustrated and need to vent. I understand Toronto City Council wants to apply for the Commonwealth Games in the near future (I forget which year, pardon my memory).
The city hosted the Pan Am Games in the summer of 2015. The pro argument for hosting games, Olympic, Pan Am or Commonwealth, is that the city will perform all kinds of infra structure projects for the games. I live in Malvern and because the swimming events were being held in Scarborough, much repaving was done in our area to our pot hole streets in the spring of 2015. One of those streets was Sewells Ave. between Neilson Road and Morningside. Great, right? No, not really.
Just less than 2 years later, the substandard job that was done on Sewells Road was a waste of money. Some sections of the road that is less than 2 years old is in worse shape now than in the winter/spring of 2015 before they were repaved in the name of the Games. I don't think they are worth it. Not one bit.
