A video I took on Thursday morning while on the SRT. A GO Train running right next to the train I was on from Ellesmere Station to Lawrence East station where, of course, my train had to stop.

Indeed. I like the part where the SRT train going in the opposite direction goes by, it gives you a sense of scale of the SRT versus GO.

SRT vs GO races can only be captured on film 4 times per day in each direction...I haven't seen a live race for over a year. I wonder how exactly far apart they'd be at Kennedy.

OK... here's how the "race" ended. I didn't see the GO train after Lawrence East until my train entered Kennedy Station. I took a video of that part, hoping to see the SRT train catch up to the GO train somewhere on the way to Kennedy, but it didn't happen.

So you did see the GO train near Kennedy? Between the GO train's slower deceleration and the longer stops at stations, the RT might get close, even if it doesn't catch up.

^ That's correct.

Travelling at top service speed, the SRT would beat the GO Train... no doubt about it.

I often get the reverse view from my GO train in the morning, though not usually for that long. From my seat on the top level, the SRT looks ridiculously tiny and flimsy.

On that stretch of track that would be true but not on other tracks maintained at mainline standards. The GO has serious speed limit restrictions on many of its routes due to either trackbed condition or level crossings.

And north of Ellesmere there's about two dozen level crossings on the Stouffville line.

Don't forget that the subway's and SRT's cars are all powered making for a much faster acceleration, compared to towing or pushing like GO or heavy rail vehicles
