****Ridership growth is directly impacted by GO’s inability to introduce more train trips at this time. Construction projects are underway to address this restriction.

i do agree Milton is a very busy corridor but it has very few trains...

More and more trains are needed or maybe bigger trains.

Bring out the 12 car trian!!!

Ridership on the Bradford (up 24.8%) and Stouffville (up 18.8%) lines is way up, and ridership on Lakeshore East is slightly down (-0.5%). Total system growth was 3.1%.

As a side note, the Stouffville line has gone from 1,384,500 in 2001 to 2,675,000 in 2006 (93% growth in five years!)

Bradford and Stouffville were the only lines with new peak-hour trains in the past two or three years.

Did Stouffville go from 4 trains to 5 trains per day or did the trains themselves go from 10 cars to 12? Cuz that's where the growth came from...

I think all the trains went to 10 cars, and the got an extra train. There are still no regular twelve-car trains - though platform lengthening have occurred that will accommodate these on the Lakeshore and Milton corridors.

New GO Transit Headquarters?

I heard that GO is planning to build a new headquarters east of the GO Union Terminal? Where exactly? Is it that triangle shaped parking lot on the other side of Yonge, south of the Sony Centre?

I've started to notice them on other lines as well. Brampton and Bramalea station are signed for 12 coaches. There's been no new construction, as Bramalea's 14 coach platform is a leftover from the track 3 expansion, and Brampton has a long platform by the shape of the site.

Brampton will become very interesting very soon as the south platform is squeezed into the space between the track and Railroad Street. There will also be two elevators installed to connect the north track and station building to the south track and the bus terminal.

Bramalea is a huge station with infrastructure worthy of the Lakeshore Line, apart from the fact that GO Transit stopped installing esclators in its stations.

I'm looking forward to the second platform at Brampton, but I hope it is only used for future midday trains. They dynamics of Brampton station work well with the current setup - the highest ridership times should have the trains serve the platform closest to the parking lot.

As for Bramalea, better bus connections to the City Centre are needed. There's little space for additional parking, and shuttle buses can help keep the lots from overflowing and keep people from parking illegally - a huge problem at Brampton Station.

even with so much more parking at Bramalea the lot still gets overflowed by 12pm...

I used at 12pm train and i had to park in a factory near the new lot.....

Bramalea could support 12 track trains and the demand suffices it at rush hour.

The 7:30, 8am and the 5pm trains should all be massive 12 car trains.
